OK so I'm not sure how many years the Jaguars have opened their season with a lose but I know the past three years they have. To make that worse all three years have been loses to division rivals. With much lower expectations this year, I think the Jaguars played pretty well. Going into Lucus Oil Stadium very few people gave the Jaguars a chance to hang with the Colts but the did. The Jags defense held the Colts to their 7th lowest scoring total under Peyton Manning, in a win. Some of the rookies like Derek Cox played very well. Yes he was on Reggie Wayne most of the day and Wayne had a big game but most of his catches were contested. Cox also picked Manning and recovered a fumble. Not a bad day for a rookie. The defense let the Colts drive the ball but had a bend but don't break attitude.
The offense on the other hand looked like they were playing safe. David Garrard looked good and made some play that would make you sit back and say wow. Jones-Drew did his thing also but with Bob Sanders out you would have thought the running game would of done more. Also the two rookie tackles I thought did alright. Going against two of the better DE's in the league they held their own. Sure they got beat but they are rookies and will step their game up. It was a big challenge for them with the noise and speed and I thought they did fine.
So overall I think there were a lot of positives out of this game. You hate to see a lose but Jaguars have many good things to build on for the future. If they can continue to improve during the season this could be a good team.
